Buying guides

Plan around your actual devices, the hours you need them, and the limits of your home. WattNook focuses on portable battery stations around 1–2 kWh for U.S. renters and remote workers.

What battery size will keep my connection and work devices running for a workday?

Start with the devices you need: laptop, monitor, router, ONT, and basic lighting. Find their stated or observed wattage and decide how many hours each must run. Add the active loads, then compare that energy need with a product’s nameplate capacity and the assumptions in the calculator.

Nameplate capacity is not the same as tested usable AC energy. WattNook’s runtime figures are planning estimates based on stated inputs, not measured product-test results. Adjust the sample loads and efficiency to fit your setup.

Plan router and ONT power separately

Include the router and optical network terminal (ONT) in the device list if you need local network equipment powered. They are only part of an internet connection: neighborhood equipment, provider facilities, or other broadband infrastructure may also lose power. A battery for your router or ONT does not promise that your provider stays online.

Keep the main comparison near 1–2 kWh

Portable stations around 1–2 kWh are WattNook’s core workday comparison. A smaller UPS or accessory belongs in the decision only when it solves the same outage need for your setup; a smaller label alone does not establish workday runtime. Check the exact model’s nameplate claims, rated output, and unresolved evidence before comparing it with your load.

Compare recharge claims with their conditions

Check which input and charging mode a manufacturer describes, the starting and ending charge levels, and any test conditions. Different pages or manuals can report different times for the same model. Treat each source separately and plan for the recharge window available to you.

Noise and storage are part of the apartment fit

Check for a noise measurement tied to a specific mode or operating condition; a charging-mode figure does not describe noise under load. Compare recorded weight and dimensions with the place you can store and move the unit. If a detail is not in the product record, treat it as unresolved and check the linked manufacturer information.

Check apartment and building rules

Read the complete manufacturer manual for indoor-use, ventilation, temperature, storage, and charging guidance. Check the rules that apply to your own building and lease before choosing where a battery can be kept or charged. WattNook does not determine your building’s requirements.

Follow the evidence for each model

Product pages keep manufacturer statements, WattNook unit conversions, and unresolved questions separate. Manufacturer evidence links support those claims; they are not purchase destinations. Only a matching model with an approved direct U.S. purchase destination receives a purchase link.
